TED Energy Detective - a home energy monitor saves your bills


TED Energy detective is a device that measures how much energy is consumed by your gadgets, appliances and the entire house. So from that on you’ll lean how to manage and reduce some unnecessary consumption.

It comes in a pretty small form factor as shown in the picture and it lets you hook it up to your PC’s USB port for logging the data of the electricity consumption of your house. Installation of the TED is said pretty easy, but you need at least some knowledge about the power mains and outlet. It’s recommended to get a qualified electrician who usually can get this device installed for you within 10-15 minutes. Basically it consists of two pieces, which is a transmitter and a receiver, which the receiver can be plugged into any outlet in your house. And data is transmitted via the existing wire.
