3D Books In The Works

3D Books In The Works

German company Metaio is working on a new system that will see good ol' books turned into reality-augmented 3D objects. What does this mean for today's kids who have extremely short attention spans? Well, they could possibly learn to love reading, since you will get models of things described in books jumping off the pages. Essential tools required would be a webcam, some software and a specially designed book to work with the system. The next thing you know, they won't know how to handle school textbooks since those are like, 2D and all, with absolutely zero interactivity. Imagination? What's that, they ask. But hey – what happens if you employ this technology in more hedonistic adult pursuits such as Mills & Boon books?
